Why Is It Important To Celebrate Others Success' ?

(2 min read time)

Setting and achieving personal and professional goals and being able to reflect and recognise when we’ve done a great job for ourselves is hugely important but in a modern day world where we are so fixated on how we present ourselves on social media, promoting our ‘side hustles’ and climbing the professional ladder, we can become fixated on our own goals and forget to take a step back and congratulate others in a meaningful way.

1. Health

Praising others accomplishments is actually really important for our Health, not only our mental wellbeing but our physical health too. It can relieve stress levels and leave you with a more positive mindset. Celebrating others' success as though it were our own can lead to greater optimism. In a Harvard University study an optimistic mindset was proven to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease, strokes, cancer and respiratory disease and infections. Thus proving that the power of positive thinking is endless.

2. Motivation

Seeing colleagues get a promotion or peers get good grades should motivate us to do the same. Marking these moments is energising and inspiring and whilst there are points when we may feel discouraged because we might not be exactly where we want to be, that’s ok! We all experience this feeling and by celebrating others we should feel motivated to work towards our own greater personal success.

3. Attitude is Altitude

Nick Vujicic poses that ‘Attitude is Altitude’, our attitude, demeanor, and personality contribute significantly to our ability to succeed. Supporting others in a sincere way will make you stand out from the crowd and improve your relationships with others. People are more likely to respond positively to you if they sense that you’re truly happy for them. For example, having a positive attitude in the workplace won’t necessarily make you better at your job but it will facilitate interaction, promote successful teamwork and reduce stress levels!

4. Success

Focusing on the workplace now, building long-lasting and meaningful personal and professional connections is the way to elevate your career. Broadening your network and making connections through celebrating others' success may imbed yourself in the mind of a person who may be able to help you professionally later. Networking can do wonders for an individual from improving communication and relationship building skills to providing you with new perspectives and ideas.

Here at the Multiverse Community, we are home to a network of future leaders, united to get ahead and empowered to create change through shared experiences and meaningful connections. We encourage all of our apprentices to meet like-minded individuals and grow their networks, access opportunities that enable them to grow personally and professionally, and be empowered to realise their potential. Why not start by nominating another apprentice to win Member of the Month and reap the benefits we’ve just outlined?
