Pre-apprenticeship Life
Back in 2020, Covid had struck the world meaning that I did not sit my A-level exams. I remember at the time that I knew I didn’t want to go to university but I was still unsure of what my path would be. I had a lot of time to think about what I could be good at or what I might enjoy but even after all that contemplation, I still had no idea…
I used being in lockdown as an opportunity to apply to as many different opportunities as possible. I went in with a very open mind as I did not know what I enjoyed and didn’t enjoy. My only job experience at that point was part-time work in a pub.
I had a lot of unsuccessful applications with a variety of different employers and some failed interviews here and there before I finally stumbled across what was Whitehat at the time (now Multiverse). I found Multiverse to have a much more simplistic approach to finding the right apprenticeship for me. Despite having many unsuccessful applications through Multiverse as well, in May 2021 I landed a role within the Admissions team at Multiverse and enrolled in the Business Administration level 3 programme. I was over the moon and couldn’t wait to get started!
Starting My Apprenticeship
Starting my Apprenticeship was a nerve-racking experience as I had never been in that sort of environment before. School and part-time pub work were all I had ever known and whilst thankful for those experiences, I was in a different world. On top of this, the vast majority of my time on the apprenticeship was virtual which made it hard to establish connections straight away. However, I was fortunate enough to have an extremely welcoming team to help embed myself straight away. There were many different challenges towards the beginning and I made a lot of mistakes that I had to learn from.
Completing My Apprenticeship
As my apprenticeship progressed, I developed more confidence in various areas, making the programme relevant and inspiring for me. I engaged a lot with the Multiverse community, which opened up many doors of opportunities. It started off with me attending outreach events in other schools and careers fairs to discuss Multiverse, apprenticeships and my experience. This enabled me to develop my public speaking skills and see my impact in the real world. It also gave me a taste for jumping into new things. From that point forward, I started to join more virtual and in-person events which helped me to network and engage with other apprentices. These also proved to be rather enjoyable experiences!
During this time, I also became a member of Elevate ( a Multiverse leadership development programme) which allowed me to bring other leadership qualities to my character. Participating in these community activities and learning from my course allowed me to progress and get promoted alongside gaining a distinction within my apprenticeship.
Present-Day and Future Aspirations
So you are probably wondering, “What am I up to these days if I have finished my apprenticeship?” Well, I am still with Multiverse as a full-time employee in the Admissions department. I have also recently taken it upon myself to embark on a challenge that I have always aspired to do. My second apprenticeship this time will be through The Business Transformation Fellowship Level 4 programme. I have recently started the programme and I am looking forward to really getting stuck in with all the apprenticeship knowledge that I already have.
The idea for the future is to constantly keep learning and keep developing my knowledge in order to bring myself the best possible opportunities in life. Prior to the start of my apprenticeship, I was someone eager to learn and try new things. Now, I am someone who has developed confidence in my abilities to keep progressing.
Salvatore Marziano completed his Business Administration apprenticeship at Multiverse and is currently enrolled in the Business Transformation Fellowship.
