First Blogs Suck | by JT Carrada

Yes, you read the title right,” First Blogs Suck”. Now you’re probably wondering “What’s his problem?” Please grab your favorite drink/snacks and hear me out for a second.

Now before I deep dive like a conspiracy theorist on a Saturday night, let’s go back to the reason why I’m even writing this blog. One day while scrolling through Twitter (I know it’s called X but Twitter sounds better), I came across someone’s tweet mentioning something like “If you struggle with putting your thoughts on paper, you need to improve your copywriting skills”.

While reading that tweet, I did feel a type of way since I suck at putting my thoughts on paper or sometimes I can’t explain something in the way I want to explain it. It's actually happening right now as I type this. Anyways, the next day my good friend Jazmin mentioned that Multiverse is recruiting for this year's Blogging Team. I contemplated a lot and finally decided to take this chance since I’m on Team Youtube at Google and copywriting is a huge skill in this area of Digital Marketing.

Fast forward to now, I’m on the blogging team and I’m tasked to make my first ever blog. I can tell you right now that this blog topic is one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to come up with, a lot harder than pulling a 1v3 in Apex Legends. I hate speaking about myself so that was not happening, it’s the same type of hate when someone asks me “What inspires you?”. Also, nobody wants to hear about a NYC guy who only has a GED working at Google, or at least that’s what I think. I can speak about my favorite video game Apex Legends but I don’t want to bore anyone with my nerdy game knowledge. I can also speak about street fashion/fashion but again, nobody wants to just hear about clothes.

Thinking, pondering on what to write about, I sighed out loud “This first blog is going to freaking suck! '' and BOOOM, a light bulb flickers above my head, I say again “This first blog is going to freaking suck!”.  Curiously, I went on Reddit to see if anybody felt the same way I did and of course, other writers felt the exact same way when they started. In fact, they’ve mentioned that your first blog has to suck so in a few months from now, maybe even weeks, you’ll see the improvements in your future blogs and you’ll maybe get a good laugh looking back at your first one. They’ve also mentioned that I should just write down whatever is popping up in my head, and get used to that- it doesn't matter if it’s nerdy, cringe, sad, or something you personally like… just write it down. As long as you get things flowing, you’re doing great! I’ll actually try it right now before ending this blog. Here we go:

I’m currently sitting at one of Google’s fanciest lunch rooms, eating a boujie salad, and drinking spa water while listening to a Travis Scott x Playboi Carti leak. I have a meeting in 29 minutes which I’m not dreading but I’m also not “excited” about. I also have a dinner later tonight with my friends and I can't wait to see them. I’m also thinking about seeing my mother for Thanksgiving as I don’t get to see her as much as I would love to (I know I know, you don’t have to say it)
I miss her food so much, god bless that lady. I just saw someone willingly eat a pickle so I guess I’m ending this blog here. Sorry to my pickle lovers!

If you got this far, thank you for taking the time to read my first-ever blog. I promise to have something better on my next one (or at least try to) and REMEMBER, First Blogs Suck!

Side note: I’m actually starting to like this blogging thing!

What’s up, everyone? I’m JT, a Digital Marketing apprentice at Google in NYC. I’m on Team Youtube, specifically on the Social & Influencers side. From sourcing creators to coming up with captions/on-screen texts, coming up with ideas for our future campaigns, to helping out at creator shoots, I try to do it all. I want to use this platform to improve my copywriting skills as this skill is very important on this side of digital marketing and I really want to put my thoughts on paper with ease.
