My Journey as a Data Literacy Apprentice: A Positive Learning Experience | by Elaine Russell
Elaine Russell is a Data Literacy/ Data & Insights for Business Decisions apprentice and Partner at John Lewis Partnership. The below was originally written by Elaine for LinkedIn during National Apprenticeships Week:
From day one of the apprenticeship, the support and guidance I've received from my coach and colleagues have been invaluable. They have truly created an environment where I feel encouraged to learn and grow every day.
One of the things that has stood out to me the most is the hands-on experience I've gained. Instead of just reading workbooks and attending learning workshops, I've had the opportunity to work on real-life Hotel-based projects. This practical approach has allowed me to apply what I've learned in a meaningful way, making the learning process much more engaging and rewarding.
The collaborative nature of apprenticeship has also been a game-changer. I've had the chance to work with a diverse group of Partners from around the business, each bringing their unique skills and perspectives to the table. The constant exchange of ideas has not only broadened my horizons but has also fostered a sense of camaraderie and teamwork.
The business's commitment to supporting my growth and development is brilliant. But it's not just about the technical skills! My apprenticeship has also emphasised the importance of personal and professional growth.
I've been encouraged to take ownership of my learning journey, set goals, and reflect on my progress. This holistic approach has helped me develop not only as a data professional but also as an individual.
I can't wait to see what the future holds and continue this exciting adventure! If you're considering a data apprenticeship, I highly recommend taking the leap. It's an investment in your future that will pay off in ways you can't even imagine.
