Your Human Intelligence is Humanity’s Greatest Asset | by Debra Charles
Your USP (Unique Selling Point) is Human Intelligence:
Upskilling your Human Intelligence skills, known for the past 50 years as Soft skills (or durable skills at Multiverse), will enable you to remain relevant as AI gains more ‘human-like qualities and will ensure humans and AI work as a force for good for this amazing planet we inhabit.
From a dystopian viewpoint, we are moving toward human extinction. Let’s face it: we’re not helping ourselves! We love a virtual meeting! Yet, as a consequence, we only use two of our senses - see and hear. Meanwhile, generative artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming increasingly more capable.
Right now, several organisations and research institutions, such as the Institute for Basic Science and Nagoya University, are actively working on simulating human-like memory consolidation, marking an essential advancement in developing AI systems that can learn and remember information similarly to humans.
To remain relevant, we humans need to ‘up our game’ to ‘stay in the game’ by exploiting our human intelligence. If we upskill our human intelligence skills together with the power of artificial intelligence, we could for example avert the climate catastrophe and save our planet.
Exploit Your Human Intelligence to Build a Brilliant Career and Save Humanity in the Bargain:
Today, Human Intelligence is known as Soft Skills. The term ‘soft skills’ was, and 50 years on from its origins, is still a ‘catch-all’ for describing human qualities that are not mechanical activities. In the sixties, soft skills focused on social graces, communication abilities, personal habits, and time management. While soft skills have moved on, we look ahead to human intelligence being the next generation of soft skills.
Here are some Human Intelligence skills that you need to exploit:
- Head (Cognitive Insights): Logical reasoning and analytical thinking, where decisions are determined on facts, data, and rational analysis.
- Heart (Emotional Insights): Emotional intelligence plays a key role here. It involves understanding your emotions and those of others to guide your thinking and behaviour. Empathy, compassion, and emotional connections often influence decisions from the heart.
- Gut (Intuitive Insights): This is more about instinctive or 'gut feeling' decision-making. It often relies on subconscious information processing, drawing on past experiences and deep-seated knowledge.
- Vision hunting: The ability to create reality in a future state.
- Complex Problem Solving: Developing solutions to intricate global challenges.
- Critical Thinking and Analysis: Evaluating data and decisions critically.
- Creativity and Innovation: Imagining novel solutions to pressing issues.
- Emotional Intelligence: Understanding and managing emotions in diverse situations.
- Ethical Judgment and Social Responsibility: Making decisions considering ethical implications and societal impact.
- Interdisciplinary Knowledge: Integrating insights from multiple fields.
- Cultural Competence: Respecting and valuing cultural diversity.
- Collaboration and Teamwork: Working effectively in diverse teams.
- Resilience and Flexibility: Adapting to rapid changes and challenges.
- Engagement Leadership for Sustainability: Guiding initiatives towards sustainable outcomes.
Why It’s Important to Act Now:
Today, with AI's rise, if we don’t upskill we risk losing our jobs. Artificial intelligence (AI) will change the job market dramatically. McKinsey states that by 2030, 800m jobs will be lost.
Enhancing your Human Intelligence skills will deliver career brilliance for you and humanity. The Institute for the Future (IFTF) forecasts that 85% of jobs that will exist in 2030 and beyond don’t yet exist. These are the jobs that AI will not have the human intelligence, known today as soft skills to complete.
In Summary, AI is evolving at an incredible pace and consequently, our jobs are at risk. If you act now and upskill your Human Intelligence you will create a brilliant and sustainable career path, and together we can use AI as a force for good. Imagine, you could be at the forefront of solving complex problems and seizing opportunities that support our local and global communities and save our amazing planet.
