The Multiverse Community is a global network of apprentices and alumni spanning industries, functions and geographies. In this post, we take a look at how you can use it to stay connected.

Living in the world of COVID-19 can be tough, not only are we restricted from leaving the house and seeing our loved ones, for many of us our homes have become our office and the chance to meet and network with peers seems harder than ever. And in a world where social contact is currently restricted, it is more important than ever to utilise virtual channels for the mind and body as networking promotes self confidence and self esteem. Luckily, the MultiverseCommunity Hub has so much to offer that will enable you to form lifelong connections with other Multiverse apprentices and alumni.

Build your Profile
Step 1 to growing your network is showcasing yourself. It is important that other Community members can see the goals/aspirations you have set for yourself, your top strengths and your journey - this serves as a means to share skills and expertise. A snapshot of who you are will enable you to meet like-minded individuals and build meaningful lasting connections.

Events
On the hub you can find an extensive range of events to attend, not only do these count towards your 20% OTJT but they are a great way to meet other apprentices. The Zoom chat box is a great way to interact with other event attendees live, and be sure to continue the conversation on the Hub!. Connecting with other members at events breaks down the sometimes awkward and daunting initial encounter into a fun and relaxed gathering of like minded individuals. The Hub offers regular events that help you to discover or develop a skill in a workshop, have open conversations and discuss topics in our inclusion and diversity series or hear stories and words of wisdom from industry experts and professionals at one of the speaker series events

Multiverse Connect
Next on the agenda to stay socially connected is signing up to Multiverse Connect! It's an updated version of our Buddy Programme. The purpose of the programme is to connect apprentices based on set goals. The programme can help you to build your professional network, make friends, provide or receive support and guidance, or gain insight into a different industry, role or business. It offers the opportunity to bring together 2500+ diverse individuals working at some of the most exciting companies across the UK to build valuable connections and it even contributes to your 20% OTJT.

Networks and Groups
Another great chance to stay connected is through our groups and networks. The Hub will have automatically enrolled you into your Qualification group and Cohort group which both give you access to speak to other apprentices in your cohort or apprentices and alumni that are doing/have done the same qualification. We also have a range of networks you can join such as the Multicultural Network, the Women’s Network or the LGBTQ+ network, that brings together groups of like-minded people with similar interests outside of the work environment.

Programmes
We also would encourage you to sign up to our Mentoring Programme or our Leadership Programme

The Multiverse Mentoring Programme matches apprentices with mentors from outside their organisations, so these could be apprentices who are further along in their career or external from the Multiverse Community. This programme will give you the chance to connect with professionals that may not be on the hub and will expand your network beyond your apprenticeship. The programme is a fantastic way for mentee’s to supercharge their career development with the guidance of their experienced mentors, who get to help shape their mentee’s career goals and aspirations. It is a 6 month commitment with meetings twice a month and of course this will contribute to your 20% OTJT.

Or, you may find you want to sign up to our Leadership Programme. The 6 month programme consists of monthly training sessions in which you’ll get to meet other members of the leadership team and form a bond as you take on this amazing journey together. The programme will support the development of your leadership skills by giving you the chance to work/collaborate on content creation across multiple platforms, public speaking and presenting, analysing feedback and data, event planning and problem-solving.

If you would like to find out some more information about either of these programmes, including application dates/process then please take a look here!
