Introducing your Apprentice Community Leaders

Published on September 28, 2022

We have recently onboarded a team of over 30 strong Community Leaders that are part of Elevate or Lead our Networks as Chairs. We have asked a few of them to share their stories and motivations for becoming leaders of the Multiverse Community, alongside the impact that they want to generate over the next six months.

Keira ToddDigital Business Apprentice
based in Bracknell, England
Elevate Member & Women’s Network Chair

I’m Keira Todd, working for Allegis Group as a Procurement Associate whilst completing the DBA apprenticeship.

I applied for Elevate as it compelled me from the start. From the leadership opportunities, the exclusive skills workshops, the PR opportunities, and relationship building, it was a no-brainer. As a Chair of the Women’s Network and having experienced the effort that the Community Team gives to ensure that we as chairs gain the most from our experiences, left me with no doubt that it would be the same with Elevate!

The impact that I am aiming to have as a leader is to advocate for apprenticeships externally, encourage & inspire others, and gain key skills which will help assist my knowledge; which is great for when I'm furthering in my leadership role.

I’m really excited to embark once again on an incredible, unique opportunity and I cannot wait to see what I bring!

Alistair Semple, Business Associate Alumni
based in London, England
PRISM Network Chair

My name is Alistair Semple and I’ve just completed the Business Admin Level 3 apprenticeship. I work at Microsoft, in the Education department, leading the scaling of our portfolio of digital skills programmes for primary and secondary schools.

I applied to be a Network Chair because I wanted to get involved with the Multiverse Community more heavily and drive change within the Networks. The idea of creating groups with similar lived experiences is fantastic and being part of Networks when starting my apprenticeship really helped me find my footing and feel part of the community. I wanted to be in the driving seat, assisting other people to find their community here, find friends, and feel empowered in their apprenticeship. Moreover, as someone who is part of multiple marginalised groups, I am passionate about intersectionality and raising awareness of the struggles faced by those with these lived experiences. I wanted to see more collaboration between the Networks so that everyone is supported in these groups on multiple axes, so figured the best way to go about it was to get involved.

As a leader of the Multiverse Community, I hope to empower others - irrespective of background, gender, ability, race or ethnicity - to feel comfortable and confident in engaging with the Community. I hope to foster more collaboration and awareness between the current Networks, improve representation for those who are part of multiple marginalised groups, and ensure that intersectionality is at the forefront of everyone’s minds. I’m excited to be part of the Multiverse Community and create a supportive space for all!

Xavier Tolibert, Data Fellowship Apprentice
based in Orlando, Florida
Elevate Member

My name is Xavier Tolibert and I’m an apprentice on the Data Fellowship learning path. I applied for Elevate due to my apprenticeship with Multiverse being such a great experience for me so far. It’s impacted my life positively; I share the benefits I’ve experienced and the opportunities I've had with friends and family.

I felt that Elevate will give me the chance to better develop additional skills, such as leadership and public speaking, through application and practice. I also like that I can contribute to the community by giving back to others at different stages to me. I know there are many other young adults who do not have the luxury of going to college, so they may feel their success options are limited. Leaving them to work jobs that they may not feel are careers or will aid them in creating the life they truly want for themselves.

As someone who experienced this first-hand, having an opportunity like a Multiverse apprenticeship after finishing high school, has given me the chance to grow and build on my success. I’m hoping that my time on Elevate will allow me to advocate for apprenticeships; inspiring others to act in ownership of their own success, without feeling burdened by the fear of missing out on traditional routes.

Kim Merritt, Data Fellowship Apprentice
based in Rochford, England
Elevate Member

Hello there! I’m Kim, and I’m about five months into the Data Fellowship apprenticeship. It’s been an amazing experience so far and I’ve learnt so much, not only about data analysis but also myself, my interests and how I’d like to progress my career.

Since starting in IT a while ago, I’ve always wanted to give a presentation at a particular industry event but haven’t yet found the courage to apply. When I heard about the Elevate scheme, it seemed like a great way to build my confidence and public speaking skills so maybe you’ll see me on the stage there next year! I’m really excited to have been accepted onto the Influence pathway and can’t wait to see where this next step takes me.

Speaking from my own personal experience, being an apprentice can occasionally feel overwhelming. There are times when it can be difficult to juggle your training, job, and family life. But you’re not alone. The Multiverse Community is one of the most supportive communities I’ve ever been a part of, and everyone here wants to see you succeed in your goals. I’m hoping to inspire other apprentices to keep going even when it feels tough and encourage them to reach out for help when they need it.

I look forward to seeing you around the Community Hub!
