Leverage the 4Cs to Be Successful on Programme | by Leonie Worrell
Curriculum, Commitment, Community and Coaching are the 4Cs that can leverage your personal performance whilst on programme. The 4Cs are not disjointed from each other. Actually, all 4 have the potential to co-exist for apprentices to be successful on programme.
Knowing the importance and value of each one:
Curriculum
During your time at Multiverse you are taken through a high-quality curriculum with your programme. Your programme wasn’t just put together randomly but was created with your learning experience in mind. The value of embracing an evidence-based curriculum will affect the crux of your learning experience here at Multiverse. Leveraging the curriculum could look like you;
- Turning up to all your live sessions with your peers and coach
- Further researching topics that come up in your session and workbooks to gain a greater understanding of your industry
- Asking your coach great questions to elicit more information to fill in the gaps
Main point
The curriculum is just a starting point of your progress. Start to look at the curriculum as a springboard to further input and self-learning.
Commitment
Commitment noun com·mit·ment | \ kə-ˈmit-mənt \
: an agreement or pledge to do something in the future
Stay consistent! This shows your commitment and ownership of your own development. Commitment isn't just about saying yes and pleasing people. It's also about;
- Showing energetically in your sessions with your peers and coach
- Scheduling time in your calendar to get your workbooks done to a level that is required
- Building a strong work ethic that makes sense to you. Work ethics not only include how you feel about your apprenticeship, job,career or personal development but also, how seriously you take your work responsibilities. This involves attitude, behaviour, respect for your peers
Main point
Your commitment is vital. If your coach is dragging you through the programme, this isn't a Multiverse issue but a commitment issue. Start looking at your commitment level on a scale of 1-10. 1 being no commitment at all and 10 being smashing your apprenticeship out the park. Whatever the number is, what do you need to do to take it up to another level? Your action plan starts there.
Community
Multiverse is flipping the script on education and schooling, right? Embracing the community plays a huge role. But let’s look at some meanings that may change your perspective on what school and education is first.
-
The word school referring to a place of learning traces back to Greek scholē, which has a meaning that will surprise you, "leisure." Click here to read more about it.
- The word education traces back to Greek which also has another meaning that might shock you. They are "eduCARE," which means to train or to mould, and "educere," meaning to lead, guide, orient and lead out. Click here to read more about it.
Main Point
What does this matter? Because when I have grown up thinking that school is a place of gaining information in a strict enviroment, when actually being part of a community and enjoying learning with others is a fundamental part of your progression. Getting involved in the community at Multiverse and with your peers in your cohort is where the magic resides. Peer masterminding, group and 1:1 support will help you to be inspired and feel supported within an interactive community that uplifts and encourages. This is the seed for exponential growth as an apprentice.
Coaching
The curriculum, your commitment and the community are all working well together whilst on programme. I believe coaching is where you are able to take off and fly as an apprentice.
Take advantage of this opportunity by;
- Knowing that there is always room from improvement
- Being coachable in all levels of progression
- Turning up to your coaching sessions with at least a rough idea of what you need to be coached on
- Learn coachable skills that help you to provide space and structure for the reflection that is necessary for learning and growth for others so that you can be of great value.
Main Point
With your coach and within your coaching sessions, you can connect back to your WHY for joining the apprenticeship in the first place. If all fails, leveraging the coaching within your apprenticeship will help you gain clarity towards your goals for yourself whilst on programme.
Knowing how to leverage the 4 Cs to be successful on programme will help you have a rounded experience here at Multiverse. Think about each C and reflect on where you can stretch yourself a bit more to aid your development.
