Hear from some other Apprentices about getting a Mentor below:
Who was your match?
My match was an HR Leader at Salesforce.
What were you hoping to get from connecting with someone in mentoring?
I was hoping that the mentoring focus would be on career guidance and advice for my future as well as pivoting my career and forging a new path. I was also hoping to learn from someone who has made a move from the business side to a more technical job- so that I could understand how they navigated this effectively.
How did it go?
From our very first conversation, I knew this was going to be a great journey. He spent the time really getting to know me and understanding my goals. His openness with me on his experiences and what he had been going through meant we were able to cultivate a 2-way relationship and build the trust that's really needed for mentor/mentee collaboration. He was adaptable in our sessions based on what I was going through professionally. He provided some of the best advice and spent so much time coaching me to get to the desired output. He even followed up in emails in between our sessions to check in and share further frameworks. He has not only listened to me through the process but has really challenged me and pushed me and given me the confidence to face some difficult conversations professionally.
Any words of wisdom for other Apprentices?
Be open and honest! Take the time to build trust between you and your mentor. Be proactive and clear with what you want from the relationship. Above all be adaptable – you may choose to focus on one thing but the situation within your workplace changes…be prepared to pivot, it’s all a part of the process.

Who was your match?
My match was Kabir, an Entrepreneur, and Transformational Coach.
What were you hoping to get from connecting with someone in mentoring?
My mentoring focus was on self-confidence, setting goals, and personal development plans as well as career guidance and advice for my future. I was heavily focussed on mindset- creating personal goals and achieving them. I also wanted to demonstrate and work with my Mentor on being of value to them!
How did it go?
The time spent communicating and building a relationship with my Mentor was great, He was able to remember every conversation we had - and gave excellent advice. He made sure to even do the little things like mute his mic whilst I spoke, so he could hear me. He made sure that he showed up, and made time in his busy schedule to support me.
Any words of wisdom for other Apprentices?
My advice to other apprentices is to make sure you have questions ready before your call that way both you and your mentor are making good use of the time spent speaking to each other, this will ensure you are getting the specific help and support you need.
