I want to welcome you as we embark on this journey together.
Embarking into a career at a younger stage of your life:
Diving into the world of work at a young age is one's goal, another’s dread. It is subjective to what works best for you and where your passion guides you. Hands-on experience and applied learning have many benefits.
Jumping into corporate life at a younger age can be daunting and quite alarming, however, you will gain so much. From people skills to industry understanding, the pros definitely out way the cons. This communication does not mean that cons are not present. As a younger employee, being surrounded by people with more experience, not just in work but in life too, can be overwhelming. You could experience the feeling of not fitting in or not feeling that you are in the right place. You may find it more difficult to form relationships with a considerable age gap. Finding your way through this is very doable! Find people you connect with and relate to and people you can embark on this journey together.
Different lifestyles are very present in the world. Establishing your muse and passion early on could really benefit you in the future. Gaining all-hands experience at a younger age can help you to understand where your interests lie and hopefully where your passion falls to. There is no time or age that you can put on these things, however, it is completely okay to not feel secure or sure on the route and path that you are heading down. As long as you are happy with your progress and content with how you are leading your life, then that is all that matters.
As a younger employee, you will be in the initial stages of your career. You will be learning the ethics, morals and etiquette that you embrace with your responsibilities. Now, what are the main qualities to adapt to whilst you are entering a professional world?
- Driven
- Honest and will take accountability
- Respectful
- Passionate
- Thoughtful and kind
- Collaborative
- Motivated
I’m sure there are many traits that you can add to this list which you already possess. The main thing to realise is that you are not alone and that there will be many others in the same boat as yourself. Reach out to people, network and broaden your connections. This will benefit you in many ways.
