Alumni Success Profile - Kwabena Yeboah

Hear from Kwabena Yeboah on winning the Peer Support Alumni Award and advice for current Data apprentices.

How did it feel to win the Peer Support Alumni Award and celebrate with your community?

It was an amazing feeling to not only be shortlisted out of 39 candidates, but to have won the award itself. I put a lot of effort into my apprenticeship, alongside my main project duties, and to have won an award that recognises that fills me with nothing but pride. It also fuels me to continue the work I’m doing in order to achieve even more throughout my career and endeavours.

What is your current role and responsibility?

I am currently a Graduate Analyst (I will be Assistant Manager in September) – my responsibilities are varied, I am leading the Social Activities for my Team, as well as leading a team on the Graduate pathway for our incoming Grads in October. These are done alongside my main project duties which currently involve coding and remediation.

What's next for you both in your career and community?

I hope to be challenged further, whether in the data space or otherwise. One day I imagine I’ll be working in the gaming industry and using analytics to further improve my own gameplay, as well as better understand the consumer base – would be cool!

Do you have any advice for Data Fellowship apprentices?

My only piece of advice to my fellow apprentices is to ‘have fun’ when it comes to data. Make up your own datasets, involve your interests and you will soar. I personally love gaming and decided to use what I’d learnt on the programme to further develop my love of it, and knowing that using a personal interest with something you’re learning makes the process a lot smoother – it all goes hand in hand. Don’t be afraid to involve your personal interests in the learning content, as it will allow you to develop a natural love for learning.
