Does ambition equal to success?
Peace over control.
Ambition is an incredible trait but can consume you if you invest too much time into it. A healthy ambition encourages you to enlarge your motivational traits and helps create a vision of where you want to be and where you will be. It is however easy to fall into the habit of not being satisfied with where you currently are in life. This can lead to burnout and often, loss of productivity. This can be caused by overworking yourself, resulting in stress.
Life is a journey and us as individuals are all on different paths. Comparing to others can lead to jealousy and self-doubt. If you're constantly comparing your situation and lifestyle to others, then you will never be truly happy with yourself and your achievements.
Ambition and success is subjective to what you make of it, just like any other emotion or drive. Knowing a safe balance of your ambition is important. You have to establish where it is that you draw the line. An unhealthy amount of drive can cause burnout, this can lead to stress, outbursts and disatisfaction , which can be dangerous for your health.
Reporting, Responding, Relating, Reasoning, and Reconstructing
This is why it is so important to take time to appreciate your successes and to reflect on how far you have developed. A recent report ( Can we link to the article?) shows that 52% of all employees are feeling burnt out. This isn't only effecting productivity, but is also an individual's mental health. But how can I take time to reflect and appreciate my achievements and my journey so far? I don’t know where to start. I struggle to switch off.
How to prevent burnout
- Exercising.
- Adapting a healthy sleep pattern.
- Eating a balanced diet.
- Setting boundaries.
- Disconnecting from technology time to time.
- Scheduling in healthy breaks throughout the day.
Now, how can you cultivate the ability to self-reflect?
- Reading positive and relatable books.
- Meditating.
- Journaling.
- Walking in nature.
- Adapting healthy breathing focused exercises.
The most important thing to remember is that everyone is on their own unique path which is an incredible thing in itself. Talk to others, gain an insight into other lifestyles and journeys. Network, relate to others, create memories and make sure to live in the moment but also have on eye on your future. Most importantly, don’t let unhealthy ambition consume you.
